WHAT WAS YOUR FITNESS LIFE LIKE BEFORE JOINING CROSSFIT FIRESIDE?
Before joining Fireside, I was a member at another local CrossFit gym. I visited fireside to watch some good friends compete in the Battle for Boise…needless to say I scoped out the place and was sold. I did my free week and the programming was so amazing that I switched gyms (after 3 years!) at the end of the week and never looked back!
HOW HAS CROSSFIT FIRESIDE CHANGED YOUR LIFE?
CrossFit fireside has become my second home. I came into the gym with the best posse of women (and their significant others) but quickly felt the full embrace that is the Fireside community. I have never felt stronger and I have never been so inspired to push myself. I also have never felt more encouragement from my fellow athletes and underneath it all from Ben himself 😉
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE GOALS?
I just achieved one goal by setting a meet PR, but have set my sites ahead to Masters Nationals. I’m hoping to snatch body weight and set a new meet PR for clean and jerk. If all goes well I’d love to lift in Masters Worlds in Orlando in December.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT?
Favorite movement is the snatch! Used to be terrified of it, but I love the technicality of it, and the amazing feeling of the perfect pull.
WHAT’S BEEN THE HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOURNEY?
The hardest part of this journey has been to learn that it’s MY journey. I have spent so much time comparing myself to others and always felt lesser than, I have just recently really focused on setting my focus and intention when I enter the gym to ensure I can train my hardest and reach MY goals!
WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK?
I come back to push myself harder and get better, but mostly I come back for the people! Old friends, new friends, teammates, coaches, I love them all and quite frankly my life would be empty without them.
WHY JOIN CROSSFIT FIRESIDE OVER ANY OTHER GYM?
Just join! You won’t be disappointed. The people and the coaches are so amazing, you’ll never feel better or more strong. You’ll be pushed to the brink but supported the entire way. Bad days, good days, and those mediocre days…everyone will take you how you are and get you to the end and then do it all over again the next day. You’ll be the best version of yourself you never thought possible.
